- Charity art auction to benefit brain cancer centre
- Thursday 17 May, 18h00, Sezoni gallery
- Over 20 Bulgarian artists, including the celebrated Svetlin Rusev, will auction off one of their works each to raise money for the building of a centre for brain cancer treatment by specific immunotherapy. Also Belgian/French artist Marie-Chantal Biela, has donated one of her paintings for this purpose.
The paintings are on display at the Sezoni (Seasons) Gallery in Sofia (ul. Krakra 2A), where the auction will be held on May 17 at 18h00.
The initiative is organized by the "Stay Foundation" and is supported by Belgian Ambassador, Marc Michielsen.
"Stay Foundation" is an initiative of the Bulgarian medical doctor Emanuil Naydenov to introduce an innovative brain tumor therapy against glioblastoma multiforme in Bulgarian hospitals. Dr. Naydenov works closely with the Belgian professor Stefaan Van Gool of the Gasthuisberg university hospital in the Flemish city of Leuven. Prof. Van Gool and his team have gained a huge experience by applying this specific form of immunotherapy. The aim is to establish this innovative treatment as a routine procedure in the brain cancer centre that will be set up at the St John of Rila Hospital in Sofia.
