The "Primus Interpares" Award is established by the BBLBC to recognize the most successful member of the BBLBC investing and developing business in Bulgaria and thus contributing to the development of the business, social, cultural and human relations between Belgium or Luxembourg and Bulgaria.
The "Primus Interpares" award will be bestowed annually to the most successful member of the BBLBC, which submits its application and is judged by the jury to score the highest result in accordance with the criteria listed in item 4.
A set of specific general fixed criteria, as pointed below will be used for the selection process:
a) Vision in new markets;
b) Daring innovation;
c) Adaptation to EU standards;
d) Visibility and market share evolution;
e) Originality of approach and specific initiatives taken;
Every year a special criterion featuring the economic and social events dominating in the business environment in Bulgaria for the particular year will be applied.
In 2009 the special criterion will be "Victorious 2009" - looking for companies that made successful efforts to take advantage of or to limit the impact of the financial crisis. The special criterion that will be emphasized in the respective year will be announced on July 21, 2009.
5.1. The members of the Executive Board of BBLBC who have no conflict of interest (representative of companies who applied for the award), chaired by H.E. Marc Michielsen, Ambassador of H.M. King of Belgium to Republic of Bulgaria;
5.2. Two (2) external representatives: 5.2.1 The Executive Director of Invest Bulgaria Agency or his representative; 5.2.2 President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry/BCCI or Bulgarian Industrial Association/BIA or Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Republic of Bulgaria CEIRB or his representative.
7.1. Official Launch of the Award - 21 July 2009;
7.2. Application forms will be available for downloading at the Internet site of BBLBC on 21 July 2009 and to be distributed to all members of the BBLBC by 31 July 2009.
7.3. Submission of the filled in applications - till 30 September 2009:
Applications accompanied by a short presentation (with confirmed data source) should be sent to the following
address: Sofia, Velchova Zavera No1, Embassy of Belgium in Bulgaria, in a sealed envelop with the inscription
"Primus Interpares Award" to arrive till 30 September 2009, end of the day. The envelopes are opened on 1
October, 2009 in the presence of H.E. Marc Michielsen Ambassador of Kingdom of Belgium to Bulgaria and the
President of the BBL Business Club Mr. Johan De Smet-Van Damme.
7.4. Assessment and selection of the winner - by 1 November 2009:
After deliberation, based on the information in the Application form and a short presentation provided by the
applicant, each member of the Jury votes in a secret ballot for the three best candidates here after called the
"laureates". The first ranked gets 5 points, the second - 3 points and the third - 1 point. The laureate collecting the
highest result of each jury member's vote is the winner.
7.5. Official announcement of the 2009 Winner - 9/15 November 2009 during the Belgian Culinary Week:
The Winner is only announced at a special ceremony during the Belgian Culinary Festival.
